Youngkil Kang

The Chairs series presents photograph-based digital paintings created from images of empty chairs placed in landscapes across the country. Standing in for an absent figure, each chair evokes traces of human presence, memory, and the passage of time. The original photographs are digitally deconstructed and reconstructed into painterly compositions, then printed on textured paper to give the images a tangible sense of depth and materiality.
